So my current work has stalled quite a bit lately, though I ma slowly getting back into it. I thought this would be a good opportunity to share the alternate history ideas I've had over the last year most of which I intend to put down to paper at some point.
My current work is Burning Sun, set in a world where Japan never entered WW2 and retained its empire. It's around the two third way of being finished.
Others which I've mused and put down some ideas and characters on include, Running the Long Jump-a what if about Operation Long Jump, the German assignment to assassinate Churchill, Roosevelt and Stalin, in the real world it never even got off the ground, but Otto Skorzeny was intended to lead the mission.
Then there's The Sun Never Sets, which I'm still deciding on what style to write in as it covers lot of history, from the French and Indian War all the way through to the 20th century, starting with the survival of General James Wolfe at the Battle of Quebec in 1759. I was originally going to do a 'clip' history similar to Not By A Mine, but I think I might do more of a fictional tale following different generations of several families, while inserting clips as appendices every generation jump.
And then there's my latest idea which I got really excited about and relates to the photo above.
In 1961 a B-52 crashed over North Carolina and it nuclear payload fell out. One of the bombs fell safely and the other had three out of four of its safety devices fail. The final one was only a single switch the stopped it form detonating. Imagine the damage and aftermath such an explosion would have in the height of the Cold War, the title of this book I have tentatively called Disaster Unthinkable.
That's all I have for now, but it's enough to keep my writing for a decent time anyway
